木魚(もくぎょ)とは...
こんにちはメモワールしらゆりの三鍋です。
先日、曹洞宗のご葬儀があり、仏具として木魚が使われていました。私はご葬儀 で木魚が使われているのを見るのは初めてだったのですが、よく考えたらなんで木「魚」なんだろうという疑問がわきました。
気になって調べてみたところ...、木魚の原型は禅寺で使われていた「魚板」という物で、その名の通り魚の形をした板であり、魚の形をしているのは、魚は日夜を問わず目を閉じないことから寝る間を惜しんで修行に精進しなさいという意味があるそうです。そして、口にくわえた丸いものは煩悩を表し、魚の背をたたくことで煩悩を吐き出させる、という意味合いもあるそうです。
あと眠気覚ましの為に一定のリズムを刻んでいたとも言われているそうです。あのリズムだと余計に眠くなるような気もしますが...(笑)
今度、お客様にも余談としてお話ししてみたいと思います。

I'm not sure why but this web site is loading very slow for me.
Is anyone else having this problem or is it a issue on my end?
I'll check back later on and see if the problem still exists.
